This weeks spotlight is on Andy Rexford, founder of the online art sticker store Big Moods:*
How did Big Moods begin?
Big Moods began as an idea to turn funny memes we post on our Twitter account @ColIegeStudent into real products (stickers, button pins, etc) that friends could buy each other, and express themselves and bring people happiness.
What’s your biggest achievement to date?
This one is a little hard to answer, since we’ve had a lot of different achievements through our social media marketing agency’s 4 years in business. However, if I had to pinpoint one thing, I’d say the launch of Big Moods in July 2018 and our viral messages about positivity.
What do you do when you’re not working?
When I’m not working, I’m usually hanging out with my new puppy, hanging out with friends, reading a book, watching Hulu, or writing a short science fiction story.
What’s next for you?
Continue growing Big Moods, and spreading our mental health awareness initiative online through big moods and our social media audience.
What advice would you give to anyone starting out?
Whatever creative endeavour you start on, be ruthlessly persistent at doing the work that needs to be done. Failures are inevitable, and instead of seeing a failure as a failure, see it as a learning opportunity for what not to do in the future. Finally, don’t work to the point of burn out. Try to take some “you time” in between doing your work.
